DOROTHEA JORDAN

Waterford - Irlanda 2024

This play depicts Dorohea Jordan, a playwright who lived in Waterford in the 1700s. She became very famous throughout Europe and lived an independent life, often playing male roles, which was very unusual for her time. Dorohea was a woman ahead of her time and therefore much criticised by her contemporaries. She listened to herself by persevering in her passions, regardless of the obstacles she encountered on her road, which is why she impressed me and I decided to paint her. I thank Waterfordwalls festival for inviting me and all the wonderful artists I met in this Irish experience.
